HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS AT THE CHURCH
What you should know in the event of an evacuation.
Regarding the Church:
- The Church web-site is www.allsaintsneworleans.org. It
will have the most current information.
- If we have to evacuate over a weekend, we will cancel church services.
- The Diocese of Louisiana has already set up an auxiliary office at St.
James Church in Baton Rouge, in addition to the office in New Orleans. The
diocesan web-site is www.edola.org.
- The church insurance policy is current, and includes flood insurance.
- All important documents, as well as irreplaceable records such as church
registers, will be evacuated with the Rector (or Senior Warden, in the
absence of the Rector), financial records with the Treasurer.
For your personal preparation:
- Make a plan now
. If you do not have family to assist you, be proactive
and buddy-up with another person who may be in the same situation.
- Make copies of your important papers and put them in a brief case or
something like it so that if you have to leave, you can grab the bag and go.
- Inventory your possessions. Get a camera and take pictures of your
possessions in case you need them later, God forbid. What is irreplaceable?
What can and cannot travel with you? Make a list now, not later.
- Know where you plan to evacuate and learn the correct route for
Contra-Flow. Maps will be available in Morris Hall or look on the Louisiana
State Police web-site at www.lsp.org.
Educate yourself now and don’t wait until the last minute.
- Take your pet/s into account when making plans.
- If we evacuate, Please communicate your location to the
Senior Warden, Eileen Mitchell..
The preferred method is e-mail,
mitchell1234@gmail.com,
but that may not be an option, so you may call her at (504) 453-2961. Please keep in touch.
- Pray for safety.
