Outreach Committee

The mission of the Outreach Committee is to bring the needs of the community to the church and to lend assistance in meeting those needs, and to help with ongoing outreach projects already being addressed by members of the congregation.

Christmas on the River:  Baking Christmas cookies for the mariners along the Mississippi River has become an annual tradition at All Saints'.  We also provide many helping hands (young and old alike) to help fill the Christmas boxes  provided by Sister Joy Manthey and the Seaman's Institute of New York and New Jersey.

Food Banks:  All Saints' supports Second Harvest Food Bank with occasional collections of food and monetary donations.

Metropolitan Battered Women's Program: Decorate a "giving tree" with paper ornaments specifying a type of gift for congregants to buy and put under the tree at Christmas time.  Gifts will be delivered to the shelter.

Shelter Resources:  All Saints' collects food on a regular basis in barrels in the church narthex for Belle Reve, a New Orleans assisted-living facility for persons living with HIV/AIDS.

WRBH Radio for the Blind and Print Handicapped:  Volunteers spend time (usually one hour) each week reading for this radio station which helps people who are unable to read.  A volunteer does not know in advance what they will be reading.  Sometimes it's the daily news, other times it's selections from magazines or books or children's books.  Sometimes a volunteer is asked to read the daily TV schedule.
